President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to remain calm ahead of the 2027 General Election, stating that divine intervention will determine the outcome regardless of political tensions.
Speaking on Thursday, Ruto assured citizens that the elections will be peaceful, free, and fair. “Relax, what God has planned will happen,” the President declared. “We will vote for a peaceful election that is free and fair. No one can change what God has decided.”
Addressing concerns about his re-election prospects, Ruto maintained a philosophical stance: “If God decides I will serve a second term, I will. If God decides otherwise, it’s fine. Relax.”
The President also pushed back against negative media narratives about Kenya’s direction. Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, he argued that media outlets focus disproportionately on negative stories because “bad news sells, but good news does not.”
“I don’t care how many headlines claim Kenya goes in the wrong direction. This country will never go in the wrong direction,” Ruto insisted. “Kenya is not, and will never be, a failed state.”
He encouraged Kenyans to appreciate the nation’s progress: “We have many things to thank God for. God has shown grace to our nation over the last three years.”
