With Kenya’s 2027 General Election drawing closer, President William Ruto has urged citizens to remain calm, asserting that divine intervention will determine the outcome.
Speaking on Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast, President Ruto sought to ease rising political tensions by emphasizing his faith in a peaceful and fair electoral process. “Relax, what God has planned will happen,” the President told attendees.
Ruto assured Kenyans that the upcoming elections would be conducted without violence and would maintain democratic integrity. “We will vote for a peaceful election that is free and fair. No one can change what God has decided,” he stated confidently.
Addressing concerns about his own re-election prospects, the President adopted a philosophical stance, saying he would accept whatever outcome emerges. “If God decides I will serve a second term, I will. If God decides otherwise, it’s fine. Relax,” Ruto remarked.
The President also pushed back against narratives suggesting Kenya is headed in the wrong direction. He criticized media outlets for focusing disproportionately on negative stories, arguing that such coverage doesn’t reflect the nation’s true progress.
“I once asked a journalist friend why it is rare to find a positive story in the media. My friend told me that bad news sells, but good news does not,” Ruto explained. He insisted that despite negative headlines, businesses continue operating and the country remains stable.
“Kenya is not, and will never be, a failed state,” the President declared emphatically. “I don’t care how many headlines claim Kenya goes in the wrong direction. This country will never go in the wrong direction.”
Ruto concluded by expressing gratitude for Kenya’s resilience over the past three years, stating, “We have many things to thank God for. God has shown grace to our nation.”
As election season approaches, maintaining perspective and staying informed through credible sources becomes crucial. Consider following reputable news outlets and fact-checking platforms to navigate political discourse wisely.
